Zhrat

Comical, featherless chicken-like dragons.

Comical scavenging bipedal tree‑dwelling lizards known as much for their gluttony as for their beautiful evensong.

The males have a conspicuous soft orange ‘horn’ that seems far too large for their body. Zhrat seem to compose serenades communally over the course of a single evening and then perform the finished composition for several days afterwards. The songs seem more like sagas, since they recount epic adventures of a clan or prominent individual and these can be mimicked and transmitted to other clans over vast distances. Quite often, the subject of an epic is not themselves, but other creatures — and commonly the young Enok.

IMAGERY : a small featherless chicken-like dragon with claws instead of wings.
DISTRIBUTION : native to Zoar.
PHONETIC :ʒɹʌt
