Night Howler

Noisy tree‑climbing birds of the thaakh forests.

Downy, tree‑climbing flightless birds that roost in the canopy of the thaakh forests on Zoar. Their silky white down is highly prized by the Zmee in the making of garments. Night Howlers have very sensitive hearing and cry warnings with hoots and howls when anything approaches. The have different sounds for every known kind of menace.
Alchemists “melt” Howler down in hot solutions of vinegar and brine  — which forms long strands of a durable type of silk when cooled.
DISTRIBUTION : Zoar and other mainland thaakh forests. Zmee biotists remain unsure why Howlers are found only there.
