Second wife of Sess and daughter‑in‑law to Eyda. A petite ebony‑complexioned and almond-eyed woman like Eyda herself. A tribal relative, so like her, Layla grew up near the Great Mayana, those huge fissures in the earth.
 
Her town, The Keep of Nor Mayana, was only a week’s journey from Eyda’s home village. She and Eyda are in fact relatives, for Eyda’s mother was also from The Keep.
